Adani Defence, Sparton Partner to Localize Advanced Anti-Submarine Tech

Adani Defence & Aerospace partners with Sparton to localize advanced anti-submarine warfare (ASW) technology, including indigenously developed sonobuoy systems.
The collaboration focuses on integrating sophisticated sonar and underwater detection technologies to enhance India’s Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA).
This partnership will enable the production and deployment of cutting-edge ASW electronic systems tailored to the Indian Navy’s requirements.

Adani Defence & Aerospace has announced a firm partnership agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC), a subsidiary of Elbit Systems and a worldwide leader in sophisticated anti-submarine warfare (ASW) systems, as reported on May 18.

As per a statement cited by ANI, the collaboration signifies a significant advance in the localization of assembling intricate electronic systems and advanced ASW solutions for both Indian and international markets.

Through this partnership, Adani Defence emerges as the first private Indian company to provide indigenously developed sonobuoy solutions - essential platforms designed for the detection, location, and tracking of submarines and underwater threats, thus improving Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA).

“Through this partnership with Sparton, Adani Defence & Aerospace becomes the first private company in India to offer indigenised sonobuoy solutions, enabling access to advanced technologies while fostering a future-ready, self-reliant defence ecosystem,” said Jeet Adani, Vice President of Adani Enterprises.

Sonobuoys are vital in anti-submarine warfare and naval security missions, aiding in the defense of carrier strike groups and various maritime resources. Up until now, India has mainly depended on imports for these essential systems.

“This partnership to bring world-class sonobuoy technology and integrating it with India’s defence ecosystem is a step towards building self-reliant capabilities in this critical domain,” said Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace.

“In an increasingly volatile maritime environment, strengthening India's undersea warfare capabilities is not merely a strategic priority but an imperative for safeguarding sovereignty and national interests,” Jeet Adani added. “The Indian Navy requires integrated, mission-ready ISR and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, including critical systems like sonobuoys, that are indigenously developed, swiftly deployable, and globally competitive.”

Sparton, which has a lasting partnership with the Indian Navy, will collaborate with Adani to localize production, improve advanced skills, and adapt its successful ASW technologies for the needs of India’s navy.
